Brenz Taxi takes you from the Brenz valley and the Dillingen district to your rehabilitation clinic – whether that is 60 kilometres into Swabia or right across Germany. The arrival trip and the collection after four to five weeks, luggage included. We clarify in advance whether your health insurer or the pension fund pays, and obtain the approval for you.
Who pays for your ride to rehab?
That depends not on where you are going, but on who approved the rehab. Both come up regularly with us, and the rules differ:
The health insurer approves
- The basis is § 60 SGB V, as with any other patient transport.
- You need a Patient transport prescription (Muster 4).
- Co-payment: 10 per cent of the fare, at least 5 and at most 10 euros – per trip.
- With a co-payment exemption you pay nothing.
- We bill your health insurer directly.
The pension insurance approves
- Typical for follow-up rehabilitation after a hospital stay.
- The ride then counts as Travel costs covered by the pension insurance, not through the insurer.
- A taxi trip there has to be justified and as a rule approved in advance – and that is exactly what we sort out for you before you set off.
- The co-payment rules are different from those of the health insurer. We tell you what applies in your case before you book.

And what if the hospital is far away?
Then we drive you anyway. Rehabilitation is not always approved close to home – and if you are sent to the Baltic coast for four weeks after an operation, trains and changes are no help at all. We have already been to the Baltic. We drive to the North Sea, the Harz, the Black Forest, the Rott valley or Lake Chiemsee just the same.

How a rehab ride works with us
- First ride to your fixed admission time. Most clinics admit patients between 10 and 14:00. We work backwards and collect you accordingly early – with 160 kilometres to cover, that can mean six in the morning.
- We obtain the approval. Whether it is the health insurer or the pension fund: you hand us the approval letter and the prescription, and we take care of the rest.
- Luggage is part of it. A suitcase for four to five weeks is heavy. We fetch it from your home and carry it to your room on arrival if you would like us to.
- We come inside with you. As far as the admissions desk, and if need be we sit with you in the waiting room. On the day of arrival in particular, that is the hardest moment for many people.
- Return pick-up. We make a note of the discharge date and get in touch ourselves. You do not have to organise anything from the clinic.
What we drive – and what we do not
- We drive: seated passengers, over long distances too. A folding wheelchair and a rollator come along, and luggage as a matter of course.
- We organise wheelchair trips through our partner firm if you have to stay seated in your wheelchair.
- We do not drive: Stretcher transports and carry-chair transfers down stairs.

Frequently asked questions
Does my health insurer or the pension fund pay for my rehabilitation trip?
That depends on who approved the rehabilitation. If the decision comes from your health insurer, the trip runs under § 60 SGB V with the usual co-payment of 10 per cent, at least 5 and at most 10 euros. If it comes from the German pension insurance fund – typical for follow-up rehabilitation – it runs as pension-fund travel costs under different rules. Send us the decision letter, we will sort it out and tell you in advance what to expect.
Do you drive long distances too, to the North Sea for instance?
Yes. We drive to rehabilitation clinics anywhere in Germany. To plan it we only need the name of the clinic and the admission date.
Will you collect me again after the rehabilitation?
Yes. We note the expected discharge date when you travel out and get in touch in good time. If the date changes, one call from the clinic is enough.
Who carries my suitcase?
We do. From your home to the car, and on arrival as far as your room if you would like.
What if the rehabilitation is moved at short notice?
One call is enough. Changes of date are normal with rehabilitation admissions, and we charge nothing for them.
