A long-distance taxi journey means: one car, one driver, from your front door to the entrance – with no changes, no platform and no waiting on a station concourse. You get the fixed price before you set off.
What counts as a long-distance journey
There is no fixed kilometre limit. In practice a journey becomes a long-distance one when it no longer fits into the normal daily schedule: from about an hour of driving, from the point where the car stays on site instead of returning. Customers call it a long-distance taxi, a taxi long haul or simply a long trip – we mean the same thing.
- Ein Fahrzeug, ein Fahrer. Kein Umsteigen, kein Anschluss, der weg sein kann.
- Festpreis vorher. Sie nennen Ziel und Zeit, Sie bekommen die Zahl – bevor Sie einsteigen.
- Von Haustür zu Eingang. Gepäck tragen wir zum Fahrzeug und am Ziel wieder heraus.
- We wait on site, egal wie lange es dauert. Bei dieser Entfernung wäre Heimfahren unsinnig.
- Pause eingeplant. Ab etwa zwei Stunden halten wir unterwegs an – für Sie und für den Fahrer.

Long-distance patient transport – what the insurer pays
Long journeys follow the same rules as short ones – the reasoning simply matters more. What counts is always the nearest suitable place of treatment. A distant clinic is no argument against cover if the treatment there is not available closer to home. That has to be stated on the prescription.
- You need a Muster 4 form von der überweisenden oder behandelnden Praxis – mit der Begründung.
- For outpatient appointments your insurer approves in advance. Die Genehmigung holen wir für Sie ein.
- For inpatient admission and discharge entfällt die Genehmigung ganz.
- Co-payment: 10 Prozent der Fahrtkosten, mindestens 5 und höchstens 10 Euro je Fahrt. Kinder unter 18 zahlen nichts.
- Billing: directly with your health insurer. You pay nothing up front.

Who books a long-distance taxi
- Behandlung in einer Spezialklinik, die es in der Nähe nicht gibt – Operation, Sprechstunde, Studie.
- Antritt und Heimfahrt bei der Reha, mit Koffer und Gehhilfe.
- Verlegung oder Entlassung aus einem Haus, das weit weg liegt.
- Frühflug oder Spätlandung, wenn Bahn und Bus nicht passen.
- Wer nicht mehr selbst fährt und die Strecke niemandem zumuten will.

Frequently asked questions about long-distance journeys
How far do you actually drive?
Nationwide. Frankfurt, Munich, Heidelberg and Freiburg are routine for us; Berlin, Hamburg and Cologne are possible too. What matters is not the distance but the lead time – tell us early and the day is reserved.
What does a long-distance journey cost?
For long journeys we agree a fixed price beforehand, so you know the figure before you get in. Tell us the destination and the time when you book and you get the price straight away. You can also work out the fare yourself with our fare calculator.
Do you wait on site, or do you drive back?
We wait, however long it takes. Over this distance driving home in between would make no sense. If you stay overnight, we plan the return as a separate journey.
Does the health insurer pay for a long journey?
For inpatient admission and discharge without approval, for outpatient appointments with. What matters is the reason on the prescription explaining why the treatment is not possible closer to home. We obtain the approval for you.
Can you set off at night?
Yes. Early flights and morning appointments in distant cities mean a night departure. We fix the exact time together beforehand.
Can someone come with me, and how much luggage is possible?
A companion travels free of charge – please tell us in advance so we take the right car. Luggage for an inpatient stay or a rehab course travels with you, and we load and unload it.
