Dialysis transport to the KfH kidney centre Ulm
Brenz Taxi takes dialysis patients from the Brenz valley and the Dillingen district to the KfH kidney centre at Erlenstraße 40 in Ulm three times a week. Fixed times, the same driver wherever possible, early shift on request. We obtain the approval from your health insurer, and billing goes directly to them.
The destination at a glance
Dialysis is not a single appointment, it is a rhythm
Three times a week, often for years. Monday, Wednesday, Friday or Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday – and always the same shift. Travelling like that, you do not need a taxi switchboard, you need a standing arrangement.
- We obtain the approval. We obtain your health insurer's approval for you. All you do is hand in the prescription (Muster 4), and we let you know as soon as the go-ahead is there.
- Your dialysis times are fixed in our schedule. We take down the days of the week, the time and the address once. After that you never have to book again.
- Early shift if booked in advance. If your dialysis starts before our opening hours, we drive anyway – by prior arrangement, agreed once and then fixed for good.
- Return trip: we wait. However long it takes. You do not have to call, you do not have to book again and you do not have to wait outside – when you come out, the car is there.
- After dialysis your circulation is weak. We collect you at the door, not at the car park, and drive calmly. If you need to sit down, we wait.
- We come inside with you. As far as the reception desk, and if need be we sit with you in the waiting room. That costs nothing extra.
- The same driver wherever possible. With three trips a week over years, that is the difference between transport and being looked after.
Prescription and approval
Dialysis rides are the classic case of high-frequency treatment – box 1d on the Muster 4 form. They require approval, but it is granted in practically every case. As a rule the prescription covers a longer period, not the single trip. We obtain the approval from your insurer for you.
Costs and billing
- Co-payment: 10 per cent of the fare, at least 5 and at most 10 euros – per trip, so once for the outward and once for the return journey.
- Co-payment exemption: Anyone who has reached the annual cap pays nothing. For a chronic illness it is 1 per cent of annual gross income – with an ongoing treatment the application is almost always worth it.
- Direct billing: The rest we bill directly to your health insurer. You pay nothing up front and submit nothing. We also bill employers' liability insurance associations and the pension insurance fund directly.

What we drive – and what we do not
- We drive: seated passengers. A folding wheelchair and a rollator come along.
- We organise wheelchair trips through our partner firm if you have to stay seated in your wheelchair. One call to us is enough.
- We do not drive: Stretcher transports and carry-chair transfers down stairs.

Frequently asked questions
Does my health insurer pay for the dialysis trip to Ulm?
Yes. Dialysis is the high-frequency treatment par excellence; the statutory insurers cover the travel costs. You need a prescription (Muster 4), and we obtain the approval. The co-payment of 10 per cent, at least 5 and at most 10 euros per trip, still applies.
Do you drive the early shift too?
Yes. If your dialysis starts before 06:30, we arrange it once in advance – after that it holds for your whole series.
How long does the trip from Niederstotzingen to the KfH centre take?
About 35 minutes for 30.5 kilometres. We pull up at your door 45 minutes before treatment starts.
Do you wait on site during dialysis?
We wait if you would like us to. With four to five hours, most people agree a fixed collection time – and that is then fixed for good.
I often feel dizzy after dialysis. Will you help me to the car?
Yes. We collect you at the door and walk you to the car. If you need to sit down on the way, we stop.
I need a wheelchair. Is that possible?
A folding wheelchair comes along as long as you can sit in the car. If you have to stay seated in your wheelchair, we arrange the trip through our partner firm.
