Dialysis transport to the KfH kidney centre in Neusäß near Augsburg
If your dialysis place is in the Augsburg area, that is a long haul – 70 kilometres from Giengen, 62 from Sontheim. Brenz Taxi still drives it three times a week, with a fixed pick-up time and direct billing. You sit in one car, not three.
The destination at a glance
An hour there, an hour back – three times a week
This is the most demanding kind of dialysis trip. All the more reason why none of it should be your worry: not the departure time, not the traffic on the B16, not the question of who brings you home in the evening.
- An early pick-up, firmly agreed. With an hour's driving time we set off correspondingly earlier – and that holds for the whole series.
- We stay on site. Over this distance there is no point driving away in between. We wait, and you do not have to call anyone.
- One vehicle, no changing. From your front door to the ward and back.
- We obtain the approval – on long distances insurers ask more often, and we deal with that too.
- Pick-up at the entrance, not in the car park.
Costs, prescription, approval
- Prescription: A Muster 4 form from your nephrologist, issued for a longer period – not per trip.
- Approval: Dialysis is a high-frequency treatment, box 1d on the form. It requires approval, but is granted in practically every case. We obtain the approval for you.
- Co-payment: 10 per cent of the fare, at least 5 and at most 10 euros per trip.
- Co-payment exemption: With three trips a week the annual cap is reached quickly. After that you pay nothing more – applying for the exemption is worth it.
- Billing: directly with your health insurer. You pay nothing up front.
- On long routes: Your insurer looks more closely at whether a nearer centre is an option. If your place is in Neusäß, we set that out in the application.

What we drive – and what we do not
- Seated passengers. A folding wheelchair and a rollator come along.
- If you have to stay in your wheelchair, we arrange the trip through our partner firm – one call to us is enough.
- We do not carry out stretcher transports or carry-chair transfers down stairs.

Frequently asked questions
Why should I travel as far as Augsburg for dialysis?
Because dialysis places are scarce. If your place is in Neusäß, that is not a preference but an allocation – and then all that counts is that the journey runs reliably.
How long will I be on the road?
From Giengen about 54 minutes for 70 kilometres, from Sontheim 48 minutes, from Niederstotzingen 45. Pick-up correspondingly earlier, agreed once and fixed.
Do you wait for the entire treatment?
Yes. Over this distance driving away in between makes no sense. We are there when you come out.
Does my health insurer cover a trip that far?
As a rule yes, if that is where your dialysis place is. Insurers look more closely at long distances – we set out the reasons in the application and enclose the centre's allocation.
And what if I am given a place closer to home?
Then we drive there instead. We go to Ulm, Günzburg, Dillingen, Heidenheim and Aalen just the same – simply get in touch if something changes.
