This is how a day-clinic series works with us
Day-patient treatment runs for weeks, as a rule five times a week. That is a long journey, every morning, often early. Our scheduling is built for exactly this.
- One call for the whole series. Give us the treatment period, the time and the pick-up address once – after that you never have to book again.
- We handle the paperwork. We obtain the cost confirmation from your health insurer for you. All you do is hand in the prescription.
- A fixed pick-up time. It holds for the whole series and follows the starting time at the clinic, not what happens to suit us.
- The same driver wherever possible. With daily trips over weeks, a familiar face counts for more than anything else.
- We come inside with you. As far as the reception desk, and if need be we sit with you in the waiting room. That costs nothing extra.
- Return trip: we wait. However long it takes. No second call, no new booking, no waiting outside the door.
- Changes of date. Appointment cancelled, somebody ill, the time changed? One call is enough and we shift the whole week to match.
Costs, prescription and co-payment
- Prescription: You need the form Muster 4 from your treating doctor. For day-patient treatment, box 1a is ticked.
- Cost approval: We obtain the approval from your health insurer. You hand us the prescription, we take care of the rest and get back to you as soon as the go-ahead is there.
- One prescription for the series: The form states when treatment begins, how often per week and when it is expected to end. You hand it in to us once and we take care of everything else.
- Co-payment: 10 per cent of the fare, at least 5 and at most 10 euros – per trip, so once for the outward and once for the return journey.
- For children and teenagers too: Under-18s are exempt from most co-payments – but for Travel costs this exemption does not apply. The co-payment is therefore due for underage passengers as well. That surprises many parents, which is why we say so in advance.
- Co-payment exemption: Anyone who has reached the annual cap pays nothing. With a series running over several weeks that happens quickly – applying to your insurer is worth it.
- Billing: The rest we bill directly to your health insurer. You pay nothing up front and submit nothing.

What we drive – and what we do not
- We drive: seated passengers, by taxi or hire car as stated on the prescription. A folding wheelchair and a rollator come along.
- We organise wheelchair trips through our partner firm if you have to stay seated in your wheelchair. One call to us is enough.
- We do not drive: Stretcher transports and carry-chair transfers down stairs.
Frequently asked questions
Does my health insurer have to approve the trip to Ellwangen first?
It is not required: trips to day-patient or inpatient treatment need no approval, and the doctor ticks box 1a on the Muster 4 form. For a series running over weeks we obtain the cost confirmation anyway – for you, without you having to do anything. In these cases it is almost never refused.
How long does the trip from Herbrechtingen to Ellwangen take?
About 37 minutes for 48.5 kilometres. We pull up at your door 45 minutes before treatment starts.
Do you drive the early appointments too?
Yes. We are on the road from 06:30. Day-clinic appointments usually start between 8 and 9 – which works even from the more distant villages.
Who picks my child up in the afternoon?
We do, at the agreed time. With daily trips, the same driver wherever possible. If the finishing time changes, one call is enough.
Can a companion come along?
Yes, free of charge. But please let us know in advance that someone is coming along – we want to know before the trip who we are picking up.
What does the trip cost me?
The statutory co-payment: 10 per cent of the fare, at least 5 and at most 10 euros per trip. With a co-payment exemption it falls away.
