Chemotherapy transport to the MVZ for Haematology and Oncology in Ulm
Brenz Taxi drives patients from Giengen, Heidenheim, Herbrechtingen and the Brenz valley to chemotherapy at Olgastraße 83 in Ulm. We take you there and pick you up again after the infusion. We obtain the approval from your health insurer for you, and bill the insurer directly.

How a chemo series works with us
Chemotherapy is not half an hour. Between the blood draw, the doctor consultation, preparation and the infusion, four to five hours often pass – and afterwards nobody is in any state to sort out the trip home themselves or get on a train.
- We obtain the approval. We obtain your health insurer's approval for you. All you do is hand in the prescription (Muster 4), and we let you know as soon as the go-ahead is there.
- A fixed pick-up time for the whole cycle. You give us the appointments once and we enter the series.
- Short interim appointments too. Connecting the pump, returning the pump, the blood count – that often means two trips in the same week at different times. We plan both.
- The trip home: we pick you up. When it is coming to an end, just message us on WhatsApp or give us a quick call – or the practice lets us know, usually about half an hour beforehand, and we pick you up right on time. No re-booking, no standing around outside.
- We come inside with you. We accompany you as far as the reception desk if you would like or if you are not feeling well that day. It costs nothing extra.
- A clean vehicle, a calm ride. After an infusion many people feel sick. We drive accordingly, air the car beforehand and take no other passengers.
- The same driver wherever possible. Across a treatment cycle you see as few changing faces as possible.
Prescription and approval
Trips to outpatient chemotherapy are among the high-frequency treatments – on the Muster 4 form that is box 1d. These trips require approval, but insurers grant it as a matter of course. You do not have to deal with it: hand in the prescription, we obtain the approval, and as a rule one prescription covers the whole series.
Costs and billing
- Co-payment: 10 per cent of the fare, at least 5 and at most 10 euros – per trip, so once for the outward and once for the return journey.
- Co-payment exemption: Anyone who has reached the annual cap pays nothing. For a chronic illness it is 1 per cent of annual gross income – with an ongoing treatment the application is almost always worth it.
- Direct billing: The rest we bill directly to your health insurer. You pay nothing up front and submit nothing. We also bill employers' liability insurance associations and the pension insurance fund directly.

What we drive – and what we do not
- We drive: seated passengers. A folding wheelchair and a rollator come along.
- We organise wheelchair trips through our partner firm if you have to stay seated in your wheelchair. One call to us is enough.
- We do not drive: Stretcher transports and carry-chair transfers down stairs.

Frequently asked questions
Does my health insurer pay for the trip to chemotherapy in Ulm?
As a rule, yes. Chemotherapy counts as high-frequency treatment over a longer period, and the statutory insurers cover the travel costs for it. You need a prescription (Muster 4); we obtain the approval for you. The co-payment of 10 per cent, at least 5 and at most 10 euros per trip, still applies.
How do I get home after the infusion?
We take you to your appointment and pick you up again afterwards. When it is coming to an end, just message us on WhatsApp or give us a quick call – or the practice lets us know, usually about half an hour beforehand, and we are there right on time. If you prefer, we arrange a fixed return time in advance.
How long does the trip from Giengen to Ulm take?
About 34 minutes for 42.4 kilometres. We pull up at your door 45 minutes before your appointment.
I only have to return the pump – do you drive short appointments like that too?
Yes, and we build them into the schedule straight away. Pump changes and blood tests often fall on different days and at different times from the infusion. Tell us both appointments and we will take care of it.
Can a companion come along?
Yes, free of charge. But please let us know in advance that someone is coming along – we want to know before the trip who we are picking up.
I often feel sick after treatment – is that all right?
That is everyday work for us. We drive calmly, stop if necessary and take no other passengers on that trip.
